Your previous version is the competitor worth having
You compare your whole life with someone else's best thirty seconds.
One of the most exhausting habits of modern life is constantly comparing yourself with other people.
Every day we scroll through shorts, videos, posts and stories. Even when the content has nothing to do with our goals, we subconsciously size these people up — their careers, their money, their appearance, their lifestyle — and measure ourselves against them.
You compare your whole life — the boring days, the failures, the doubts, the slow progress — with someone else’s best thirty seconds.
I meet more and more people who struggle with this. They talk about sleep, energy, motivation, and about not really knowing what they want.
Maybe the way out is simpler than it looks. Do something small. Read one article. Learn ten new words. Run a few kilometres. Finish the one task you keep postponing. Cut the endless scrolling for a while.
And most importantly, start comparing yourself with your previous version instead of with other people. Look back at yesterday. At last week. At last month. You’ll probably find you’ve come further than you thought.
Your previous version should be your main competitor.
