I miss the bug that took all night
Debugging used to end in a particular kind of joy. Lately it ends in a prompt.
Do you remember the last time you broke through a critical, genuinely irritating bug?
Those moments feel different now. As a developer, I find it harder and harder to get that same joy of overcoming something truly difficult.
Before, it was you, the codebase, the logs, the experiments, the frustration — and then, after hours of digging, that incredible feeling when everything finally worked.
Now, more and more often, it feels like a prompting task: “Here is the project. Dive into it and fix the bug.”
