3 years of tracking personal financies

It may sound a bit obsessive, but seeing the whole flow of your personal finances gives me a sense of stability and confidence. Instead of thinking “I guess I’m saving enough”, I can actually look at the numbers.

Since 2026 isn’t over yet, for the year-over-year comparison I used only January–August for each year.

1. Income and spending

Overall, the picture looks relatively stable. My goal has been to save around 50% of my income.

The statistic that changed how I think about careers

One statistic completely changed how I think about careers.

Most people underestimate two things at once:

how hard it is to become a top earner as an employee;

how hard it is to build a successful business.

I tried to put both distributions side by side, and the result surprised me. If the goal is to earn more than 500k a month, entrepreneurship is the more likely route.
